MailPoet

MailPoet newsletters and emails

If you subscribe to our newsletter, are a member of our website (you can log in) or have bought something on our website, there is a good chance you will receive emails from us.

We only send you emails that you have chosen to receive, or that relate to the services we provide to you.

To send you emails, we use the name and email address you give us. To prevent abuse of the system, our website also logs the IP address you used when you signed up for the service.

This website may send emails via MailPoet's sending service. This service allows us to track opens and clicks in our emails. We use this information to improve the content of our newsletters.

Apart from the email address, no identifiable information is tracked outside this website.

If email tracking is enabled and you make a purchase in our WooCommerce store after clicking a link in one of our emails, we store identifiers of that email, the click, and your subscriber profile with the order to attribute the purchase to the email. This information is kept for the lifetime of the order and is included when you request an export of your personal data; it is removed when your personal data is erased or the order is anonymized.

This sample language covers the basics of what personal data your store collects, stores and shares, as well as who may have access to that data. Depending on which settings are enabled and which additional plugins are used, the specific information shared by your store will vary. We recommend consulting a lawyer when deciding what information to cover and describe in your privacy policy.

We collect information about you during the checkout process in our store.

What we collect and store

While you visit our website, we will track:

  • Products you have viewed: we use this to, for example, show you products you have recently looked at.
  • Location, IP address and browser type: we use this for purposes such as calculating VAT and shipping costs
  • Shipping address: we ask you to enter this so that we can, for example, calculate shipping before you place your order, and send you your order!

We also use cookies to keep track of the contents of your cart while you browse our website.

Note: you may need to describe your cookie policy in more detail, and link to that section here.

When you buy from us, we ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information such as username and password. We use this information for purposes such as:

  • Sending you information about your account and order
  • Responding to your questions, including refunds and complaints
  • Processing payments and preventing fraud
  • Setting up your account for our store
  • Complying with our legal obligations, such as calculating VAT
  • Improving our store offering
  • Sending you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email address and phone number, which will be used to fill in your details at checkout for future orders.

In general, we only store information about you for as long as we need it for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and for as long as we are not legally required to keep it. For example, we will store order information for the required period for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address, and billing and shipping addresses.

We also store comments or reviews, if you choose to leave them.

Who on our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide to us. For example, both administrators and shop managers can access:

  • Order information, such as what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
  • Customer information, such as your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.

Our team has access to this information to fulfil orders, process refunds and provide support.

What we share with others

In this section, you should list who you share data with and for what purpose. This may include, but is not limited to, analytics, marketing, payment gateways, shipping providers and third-party embeds.

We share information with third parties who help us fulfil orders and provide services to you, for example --

Payments

In this subsection, you should list which third-party payment processors you use to take payments in your shop, since these are likely to handle customer data. We've included PayPal as an example, but you should remove this if you don't use PayPal.

We accept payments through PayPal. When we process payments, some of your data will be passed to PayPal, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.

See the PayPal Privacy Policy for more details.

Complianz | The Privacy Suite for WordPress

This website uses the Privacy Suite for WordPress by Complianz to collect and record browser and device-based consent. For this functionality, your IP address is anonymised and stored in our database. This service does not process any personally identifiable information and does not share any data with the service provider. For more information, see the Complianz Privacy Statement.

Kustom Checkout for WooCommerce

When you place an order in the online shop with Kustom Checkout as the selected payment method, information about the products in the order (name, price, quantity, SKU) is sent to Kustom. When the purchase is completed, Kustom sends your billing and shipping addresses back to the online shop. This information, together with a unique identifier for the purchase, is then stored as billing and shipping details on the order in WooCommerce.

Google for WooCommerce

By using this extension, you may be storing personal data or sharing data with an external service. Learn more about what data is collected by Google and what you may want to include in your privacy policy.
